*** TRAUMA INFORMED YOGA FOR EMBODIED HEALING:

I am so happy to begin to offer this type of practice. It feels so necessary for the times we are living. I offer the class in English.

In this 5-week series of yoga, we will be engaged in Trauma Informed care. This means that instead of receiving yoga instruction to learn to “do a pose right”, you will be invited to tune into your felt sense and to make choices about how you want to move. Although I will be guiding movement, offering options, you will be fully in control of your own practice, moving in and out of shapes as you like.  I also will be making choices based on my own felt-experience of each moment.

There are many forms of trauma, and one common aspect is that trauma often includes an event or series of events that has compromised or erased (or continues to) our sense of self-agency and our capacity to make choices based on how we feel. This Embodied Healing series is a space to begin to gently reconnect to our physical sensations, our authentic selves and our own empowerment.

The on-line nature of the course more easily allows participants to opt in or out of any movement invitation without the self-consciousness that may arise at an in-person class. You choose whether to have your camera open or closed, whatever will support your practice. Doing movements in your own way, changing the tempo, doing something completely different, simply watching or listening to class, are all welcome expressions of exploration!

In this movement-based class, there will be no discussion of traumatic experiences, no need to explain or justify your relationship to trauma. My hope is that we will create resources in learning to make choices about how we want to move and feel, and in nurturing our capacity for resilience, self-agency, and empowerment.

FOR THIS SERIES, you must register via Yoga Bhavana’s site.

WORKSHOPS

5-day Winter Sadhana: at Yoga Bhavana

February 1-7, 2021 6:30-7:30am

The Sacred Centre

Sadhana can be defined as The Journey of Return. What are we returning to?  Through practice, we return to our true Divine nature that ever lies beneath our conditioned individual selves, as a state of deep integrity, clarity and grace. Please join me in a week-long morning sadhana that will include inspirational readings, simple asana practice (focussing on the spine and kidneys) and meditation, all to help us abide in our sacred centre.

5-day Spring Sadhana at Yoga Bhavana

at Yoga Bhavana, March 15-19, 2021, 6:30-7:30am

Spiral into Spring

Spring is the time when the great thawing begins here in the North, the sap rises, buds begin to form and we unfold our cocooned winter bodies. In traditional Chinese medicine, this upward and expansive impulse is related to the element of wood and to the Liver and gallbladder organs These organs influence our capacity to have a clear view of what we would like to grow in the garden of our lives, and how to go about planting those seeds.

In this 5 day long sadhana, using both yin and hatha postures as well as sound, we will shake the old stagnant chi from the liver and gallbladder so that we can truly spiral into spring.

SUMMER 2021 TEACHING  SCHEDULE

classes * workshops * special events

J’offre presque tous mes cours en français, quand meme mon site est en anglais. Le cours de yoga pour les traumatismes déroule en anglais…

As a BIPOC cis-gendered woman, using she/they pronouns, I am orienting my practice towards supporting and creating social justice and equity. Using the spirituality and the liberation that yoga invites as a refuge and foundation for the deep looking, deep feeling and deep healing that nourishes positive social change, is my present focus.

Individual private yoga sessions are offered on a sliding scale of $60-$80, and am open to arrangements of 2 or more people in a private session.
